Browser Extension Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 15, 2026

This privacy policy explains how the Jurowl browser extension ("Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information. The Extension is developed and operated by Jurowl (operated by Mepost, INC.).

Key principle

We only process webpage content when you explicitly click "Analyze". We do not collect, store, or transmit any browsing data in the background.

1. Introduction

Mepost, INC. ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Jurowl platform (https://jurowl.com) and the Jurowl browser extension. This Privacy Policy applies specifically to information collected through the browser extension.

For the privacy policy covering the Jurowl web platform, please see our main Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Contract text (only when you request analysis)

When you click "Analyze" on a detected contract, the text content of that webpage (or PDF document) is sent to our servers for AI analysis. This text is:

  • Used solely to generate your contract risk assessment
  • Processed through our AI analysis pipeline
  • Stored in your Jurowl account as part of your analysis history
  • Not shared with third parties

2.2 Authentication data

The Extension uses cookies from jurowl.com to authenticate your session. We do not collect or store passwords in the Extension.

2.3 Extension settings

Your preferences (such as auto-detect toggle and widget visibility) are stored locally using Chrome's sync storage API. These settings sync across your Chrome browsers if you are signed into Chrome.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Browsing history — We do not track or record which websites you visit
  • Page content (without action) — While the Extension scans page text locally to detect legal language, this scanning happens entirely in your browser. No page content is sent to our servers unless you click "Analyze"
  • Personal information — The Extension does not collect names, emails, or other personal data beyond what is in your Jurowl account
  • Analytics or tracking — We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising frameworks in the Extension

4. How We Use Your Information

Contract text submitted for analysis is used exclusively to:

  • Generate an AI-powered risk assessment of the contract
  • Identify key clauses, red flags, and potential risks
  • Provide a summary and recommendations
  • Store the analysis in your account for future reference

5. Data Storage & Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
  • Analysis data is stored on secure servers
  • Access to your analysis history requires authentication
  • You can delete your analysis history from your Jurowl dashboard at any time

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates only with Jurowl's own API servers (jurowl.com). We do not send your data to any third-party services, advertisers, or data brokers.

7. Permissions Explained

  • activeTab — Allows the Extension to read the current page content when you click "Analyze"
  • storage — Stores your Extension preferences (auto-detect, widget visibility)
  • sidePanel — Displays analysis results in Chrome's side panel
  • host_permissions (jurowl.com) — Required to authenticate with the Jurowl API and send contract text for analysis
  • host_permissions (all URLs) — Required to fetch PDF documents from any website for analysis when you click "Analyze"

8. Your Rights

You can:

  • Disable the Extension at any time from Chrome's extension settings
  • Turn off auto-detection and the floating widget in Extension settings
  • Delete your analysis history from your Jurowl dashboard
  • Delete your Jurowl account and all associated data by contacting us

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the Extension or via email.
